Lost & Found Sounds X: Eduardo Mateo - Mateo Solo Bien se Lame

I came across this little gem recently and it's worming its way into my brain indelibly. Again, released in 1972 this is ostensibly a singer songwriter record but is unique in my collection in that it's from Uruguay although the acoustic guitar tone and song structures owe more to Brazilian music, bossa nova in particular. There is just a lovely energy emanating from every pore.

Lost & Found Sounds IX: Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges - Clube da Esquina

Far and away my favourite Brazilian album of all time. It really is a magical thing. Released in 1972, it's a big dizzy rainbow flavoured stew of old & new. Traditional elements of classical and jazz meet tropicalia and bossa whilst taking in shades of records like Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds.
Once I learn Portuguese and get to unlock the lyrical depths within this masterpiece I'll be able to die happy.

Lost & Found Sounds VIII: Terry Allen - Lubbock (On Everything)

"People tell me it's country music, and I ask, 'Which country?"

This is quite a stylistic shift but I plan a few more along the way. Terry Allen is a relatively little known name on the prairies of outlaw country, but this record from 1979 is as vital a piece of country music as any of the bigger hitters have released.
All music says "one of the finest country albums of all time" and who am I to argue?

Various Artists - Archive Vol.1

Just a quick compilation of songs from this calendar year that sound like they come from another era entirely. I've done this in a shorter format than my usual mix CDs in an effort to get that Side 1 /Side 2 vinyl vibe.

Incidentally the Martin Carr song might be my favourite song of the year.
